It is one of the formations of the Middle Euphrates Technical University, which was established in 1998 to meet the growing need of the community for specific specializations that are not available in its peers from the faculties of Iraqi universities.
The college aims to prepare technical cadres and advanced staff at the bachelor level, who are academically and scientifically qualified to deal with modern technologies, as well as preparing staff at the master level for the purpose of keeping pace with scientific development and completing the academic construction process in professional disciplines . The faculty includes two specializations: engineering and agricultural.
Al-Musayyib Technical College is located in Babil Governorate/ Al-Musayyib District. It was established in 1998 with four scientific departments and no more than (65) students. In 1999, the evening study was opened in engineering departments only. The number of students for 2009 was (1100) students.
The college grants a technical bachelor’s degree in engineering, and a bachelor’s degree in agricultural sciences according to the exact specialization of the students who applied to study in the college from the preparatory study/scientific branch, as well as the outstanding students in the technical institutes .

The academic year is divided into two semesters of not less than fifteen weeks each with a two-week vacation. There is one exam for each semester and the academic year ends with a final exam.
– Graduates of the preparatory study – the scientific branch only for scientific specializations, and graduates of vocational education or the equivalent in the specializations in the departments of the college, and the period of study in the faculties of the university (4) years
After successful completion, the student shall be awarded a technical bachelor’s degree in the field of specialization. Graduates of postgraduate studies shall be awarded a technical master’s degree and a technical doctorate in the field of specialization, after completing the period required for study.

The Department of Building and Construction Technology Engineering aims to grant a technical bachelor’s degree and graduate technical engineering staff (technical engineer) with the ability to design, implement and maintain all civil engineering projects and conduct scientific research in various civil disciplines with a focus on applied research to keep pace with scientific and technical development. As well as openness to society through scientific courses in the field of specialization and continuing education courses to benefit workers in the field of construction and construction at various levels and provide engineering consultations for various engineering projects and prepare engineering designs for various projects.
Establishment of the Department
The Department of Building and Construction Technology Engineering was established in the academic year 2014-2015, and this year it hosted the students of the Mosul Technical College with the third and fourth stages. The department received the students of the first stage of the academic year 2015-2016

The Department of Building and Construction Technology Engineering receives within its inputs the items listed below:
First: The first graduates of the aforementioned technical institutes:
– In the second academic year, graduates of the Department of Civil Technology/Building and Construction Branch are accepted directly and demand the subject of engineering geology in attendance and examination.
– Graduates of the Department of Civil Technologies/Engineering Drawing and Road Construction branches are accepted in the first academic year.
– Graduates of the survey department are accepted in the first academic year.
– In the first academic year, graduates of the irrigation department and the operation of water projects are accepted.
Second: Graduates of the preparatory school/scientific (applied) branch are accepted in the first academic year only.
Third: In the first academic year, the first graduates from other institutes are accepted from outside the institutes of the Technical Education Authority.
Graduate Orientation
The department prepares its students to enter the labor market and participate in engineering tasks such as designing, supervising and implementing paragraphs of works related to all engineering projects such as buildings, bridges, roads, airports, tunnels, dams, hydraulic installations, factory construction units and pre-voltage concrete units. Conducting all field, site and laboratory tests (destructive and non-destructive) on all construction materials and soil and reading their results and matching them with the standard specifications. The graduate of the college shall be able to read, prepare and implement structural and architectural maps, calculate their quantities and costs, conclude contracts for projects, and use the computer extensively. As well as the organization and management of various construction projects in modern ways and using computers and knowledge of professional methods in construction work, as well as the study of construction machinery in terms of productivity, operating costs and methods of use. The department focuses on modern technologies during teaching, allowing the graduate to deal with modern construction materials, new alternatives available locally, and additives in concrete works and soil stabilization works for important projects. Maintaining buildings, roads and other projects and controlling the subject of environmental pollution is one of the problems of the times. Therefore, the graduate of the Department of Building and Construction Technology Engineering is able to use modern surveying devices extensively to prepare plans, topographic drawings, land division, road paths and longitudinal and transverse sections.
