The library is a cultural, educational, and scientific institution that serves the community of students and faculty members affiliated with the institute. It provides them with all the information resources they need for their studies, including books, periodicals, theses, and research papers.
To cultivate a well-educated generation equipped with knowledge and scientific understanding.
To contribute to building an Iraqi society founded on values and democratic work principles.
To prepare a generation of professors and researchers who represent the spearhead of the cultural and administrative movement.
To develop a balanced and integrated student personality—intellectually and behaviorally—by promoting cultural, administrative, and social activities, as well as fostering creativity and innovation.
To instill in students a growing desire for continuous learning and knowledge acquisition, encouraging them to pursue research and renewal during and after their academic studies.
Acquisition Section: Upon receiving new books, they are cataloged, classified, and entered electronically into the library database.
Lending Section: Manages both internal and external borrowing for students and faculty members.
References, Periodicals, and Theses Section.
Email Correspondence Unit.
Reading Hall Supervision: Oversees and maintains order and discipline within the reading hall.
Issue free library identification cards for students.
Conduct internal and external book lending according to the electronic borrowing system and in compliance with the borrowing regulations outlined in the Technical Education Authority’s official letter No. 27/2/12462 dated 19/07/2009.
Perform periodic inventory and cataloging of all books, references, and theses available in the library.
Receive and dispatch official correspondence regularly and respond promptly to incoming mail.
Participate in the activities and workshops organized by academic and humanitarian departments held periodically in the library.
Host institutional activities organized by the institute as requested through official communications.
Supervise students’ presence in the reading hall to ensure a quiet academic atmosphere conducive to study and research.
Manage book acquisitions and withdrawals from inventory according to current administrative regulations.
Continuously update and enrich the library’s collection with new books and scientific resources.
Assist students in conducting their research by providing scientific materials and references through internal and external borrowing in accordance with applicable rules.
Maintain the library’s organization system and ensure the upkeep of its surrounding gardens to create a suitable academic environment and a healthy study space.
Check and manage the library’s email on a daily basis.
Supervise departmental sub-libraries for both scientific and humanities departments.
Assist the annual or ad-hoc general inventory committee by verifying and printing reports alongside committee members.
Follow up on the Henry Medical Journal in coordination with the Community Health Department via the journal’s official website.
Oversee the establishment of an electronic library for the scientific and humanities departments by preparing and uploading relevant books on digital storage media for student use.
Monitor the publication and acquisition of new periodicals related to the library.
The library provides its services to faculty members, students, and administrative staff under the following guidelines:
Each user must possess a library ID card containing a personal photograph.
Borrowing is permitted only to individuals with a valid library ID.
Faculty members: May borrow up to five books for a period of one week.
Postgraduate students: May borrow up to three books for a period of five days.
Undergraduate students and staff: May borrow one book for a period of three days.
No external borrowing is permitted for postgraduate students outside Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University; only internal use and photocopying are allowed.
A fine of 250 IQD per day per book is imposed on faculty members and staff for overdue books.
A fine of 100 IQD per day per book is imposed on students for overdue books.
In case of loss or damage to a book, the borrower shall pay twice the recorded acquisition price or twice the market price, whichever is higher.
