{"id":16814,"date":"2025-11-05T22:18:54","date_gmt":"2025-11-05T19:18:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.atu.edu.iq\/?page_id=16814"},"modified":"2025-11-06T23:38:49","modified_gmt":"2025-11-06T20:38:49","slug":"sustainable-development-unit-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/cms.atu.edu.iq\/?page_id=16814&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"Sustainable Development Unit"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><strong>Overview:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Sustainable Development is a global <strong>socioeconomic concept<\/strong> established by the <strong>United Nations<\/strong> to outline a roadmap for <strong>environmental, social, and economic development<\/strong> at the international level.<\/p>\n<p>In alignment with this global vision, the <strong>Sustainable Development Unit<\/strong> was established at <strong>Al-Mussaib Technical College<\/strong> in <strong>2023<\/strong>, following the directives of the <strong>Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research<\/strong> to the <strong>Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University<\/strong> and all Iraqi universities.<\/p>\n<p>The unit was created to work toward a <strong>better and more environmentally responsible future for the Iraqi individual<\/strong>, recognizing that universities and colleges play a vital role as centers of awareness and leadership for the youth \u2014 both in the near and distant future.<\/p>\n<p>Initially, the <strong>Sustainable Development Unit<\/strong> was directly linked to the <strong>Dean of Al-Mussaib Technical College<\/strong>. Later, it was affiliated with the <strong>Division of Studies and Planning<\/strong>, under its supervision, to serve as a <strong>liaison between Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University and Al-Mussaib Technical College<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This structure helps overcome challenges faced by newly established units and ensures the creation of a <strong>healthy and sustainable student environment<\/strong>. The unit strives to achieve as many as possible of the <strong>17 interlinked Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/strong>, each supporting the other, by utilizing all available resources within the college to benefit Iraqi students and their community.<\/p>\n<p>As a permanent member of the <strong>College Council<\/strong>, the Sustainable Development Unit ensures that <strong>Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University<\/strong> remains informed about the progress made toward achieving these goals to the fullest extent possible.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Overview: Sustainable Development is a global socioeconomic concept established by the United Nations to outline a roadmap for environmental, social, and economic development at the international level.
